FAQ's

Here are some regular questions and queries we get asked here at SSCO HQ

I have allergies and sensitive skin, which products can I use?

We have many customers who have sensitive skin and allergies. If you find most skincare irritates you whether its natural or not, our Naked range may help you. All our naked products are completely scent free so no essential oils or allergens are added to the base. All the naked products are gentle on the skin and have helped many who cant use normal skincare.

Can I use your products during pregnancy?

During the first trimester we recommend that you use the products in our naked range as they are completely scent free and safe to use during pregnancy. once you get to your third trimester any of our products are safe to use.

What is the shelf life of your products?

We love to make our products as fresh as possible, they don't sit on the shelves for long. All our products have a shelf life of 12 months before opening. Once they have been opened you should use within 6 months. We advise you to keep away from direct heat and sunlight to get the best out of our products

Are your products cruelty free or tested on animals?

No, we do not test on animals at all. we only test our products on us.

Are your products suitable for vegans?

We do use some honey and beeswax is a few of our products as this has very beneficial uses for some skin problems. All our Vegan products are listed in our vegan collection.

Can all your packaging be recycled?

Yes, all our packaging can be recycled. We use recycled Kraft card boxes which you can reuse your self or place in a normal card and paper bin. Our bottles and jars are made with glass and aluminium which can be returned to us to get a reward. We have plastic pump tops for some products but you have the choice to buy without one if you already have one from a product previously purchased from us.

our truffle and accessory bags are made with corn starch, allowing them to completely bio degrade down to water when placed in a compost bin or a normal bin. No damage to the environment.

Our packing and dispatch team use only card board packing boxes with brown paper tape along with eco friendly, biodegradable packing peanuts all of which can be recycled with ease.

Why do you use natural ingredients?

People with sensitive skin will know how easily irritated it is, and products with chemicals and other strange ingredients in them such as Benzoyl Peroxide (used to treat acne) often leave skin feeling dry, red and sore.
It is easy to find natural alternatives to all skin products, whether you are targeting spots, wrinkles or just want your skin to feel clean and healthy. Natural products are kinder to your skin, and will work just as effectively.

Naturally sourced ingredients such as zinc oxide, tea tree oil and lavender are all wonderfully healing, natural ingredients that will leave your skin feeling smooth and nourished instead of sore and irritated like other products that contain harmful chemicals

Why don't you make a lotion?

Our body butters and skincare are created using only natural ingredients. Unfortunately when you create a pumpable lotion the main ingredient to make it runny is Aqua (water) When you add water to a product you then need to add preservatives to stop the formulation from growing mould. So as we only use natural ingredients and don't use preservatives we wont be creating a lotion any time soon

Can I buy your products in bulk sizes to dispense in my eco shop?

Yes we have many products that are able to be sold in bulk. We have our 5 litre liquid soaps, liquid shampoo and conditioner suitable for dispensing for refills. We can also sell our bath salts, face masks and facial spritzes. We are unable to sell our body scrubs, facial balms, soaps & body butters in bulk sizes as these set in their moulds and packaging and cant be dispensed from a larger container.

My soap has disintegrated in the shower.

We get asked this quite a lot, we often find that soap bars are left sitting in water or have water running over them in a shower. We have a few  natural wooden soap dishes which help keep your soap bar dry but here are some  extra tips to help

  1. Keep the soap away from water when not in use
  2. Let the soap air dry. on a soap dish
  3. Always keep your soap in an appropriate soap dish that allows for drainage.
  4. Store smaller pieces in a soap-saving pouch. our bamboo and sisal pouches work really well
  5. Use a washcloth instead of your hands.
  6. Take cooler showers. Very hot water can melt the natural butters in the soap bar.
  7. Cut the bar of soap into smaller pieces
